Wikipedia:Errors in the Encyclopædia Britannica that have been corrected in Wikipedia
Posted on October 3rd, 2005 by Mr.Rcollins
Wikipedia, the online collaborative encyclopedia, maintains a page dedicated to corrections in Wikipedia that are not yet corrected in the Encyclopædia Britannica.
Wikipedia does recognize its flaws though:
Some have claimed that Wikipedia (or any open media project) can never be as “authoritative” as EB (and other credentialed commercial projects). Many would argue that —at present —EB is more “complete and accurate” than Wikipedia. Moreover, for every error in EB noted here, there are likely dozens of mistakes just as egregious in Wikipedia.
